Shkodran Mustafi still has a future in the Arsenal group after deciding to remain at the Emirates this summertime, manager Unai Emery has now insisted.
After struggling for matches, the Germany centre-back was recommended to leave, and he had been to the likes of Juventus and Monaco.
However a movement did not materialise and Emery says Mustafi has been working and was given a clean slate this season.
“Mustafi decided to be here and when he did, for me personally, he is just another player like the others in the group,” the Spanish director said ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Watford, live on Sky Sports on Sunday.
“Obviously I respect his decision and, even when he chose, I talked with him said’for me you are in the squad and I am going to work together as with another players’.
“I don’t know all what was his decision (to remain ) however, when we talked and he decided to become here, it was a start with him as the other player in the squad.
“He’s working every day with a major motivation and good experience. That’s what we desire, training with great expertise, assisting and, later, providing us his performance.”
