Where do pigeons go when they die?
Who will feed the cats?
Why does Asklipiou street always lead to Alexandras avenue?
How long does a minute last?
“Rendering the Sky”, is the title of Myrto Xanthopoulou’s third solo exhibition at Elika Gallery. Small and bigger size installations compose an attempt to explore an uncharted territory. Beyond the words themselves, her works speak the language of familiar, humble materials, such a scotch tape, carbon paper, paper, plastic layers, as well as clay, cement, scraps from previous works. Through the strong presence of gestures and written elements, these materials narrate stories about decline, lightness and gravity, love. They are subtle notes on all those that fade away.
Myrto Xanthopoulou was born in Helsinki in 1981. She studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts. She has participated in group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. She lives and works in Athens.
