This week, we have a 13-fight card in Boise, Idaho. It’s headlined by Junior Dos Santos vs Blagoy Ivanov, that is making his UFC debut. DraftKings has smaller competitions with this card because it’s just a Fight Night card using lesser known name, but there is still well over $100k to be obtained. I will be pursuing my fair share of that money and I hope you guys will be too. Here are a few plays I like this weekend along with my fade of this week.
Cash Game play of the week — Alexander Volkanovski ($9,200)
I believe Volkanovski is the”safest” play on this card and also his -300 betting line would agree with me. That’s where I’ll be starting my lineup this week and I will figure out the rest from there. Volkanovski averages 116.5 DK points during his first four UFC fights so he has a whole lot of upside as well. He could potential score over two winners on this card combined. I really do think he’s in drama for GPPs too for this reason, but he will probably be the most peculiar owned fighter on the card and we don’t care about ownership as much in cash games. I’d suggest paying up for the costly price tag in your money games and then look for at least 3 others wins you’re confident in.
GPP play of this week — Junior Dos Santos ($8,700)
JDS should function as way better striker inside this struggle and I believe that is where the fight will take place. He can get KO’d in the opening seconds of the battle and score 0 points, but this is what makes him a GPP play in lieu of a cash game play. With both of these Heavyweights, we should likely see a KO within the 25-minues and that I feel the former winner, JDS, are the one to receive it. He has great takedown defense so he ought to be able to maintain this fight on the toes where he’ll have a 4-inch reach advantage to use.
Underdog drama of the week — Niko Price ($7,900)
Niko will be my underdog drama of the week. The chances indicate that the fight should be rather close and there’s a good possibility that he utilizes his wrestling to gain the benefit. In 5 fights he hasn’t seen a decision however, and there is a chance it remains that way if he gets Brown into the ground. Niko has some slick submissions in his arsenal along with a lot of heart. On the toes, Brown probably has the advantage with his reach, but Price does have some sneaky power also, which can’t be overlooked. All in all, I like this as a GPP play.
Fade of the week — Alejandro Perez ($9,100)
Perez is the 2nd most expensive fighter on this card and he is only $100 cheaper than Volkanovski. In my opinion, Perez will need a finish to really have a shot at paying off that pricey salary and I do not want to invest in that, personally. He has never landed greater than one takedown in a fight and Wineland has excellent takedown defense, therefore we should see this battle take place on the toes. I believe Perez should be the one to receive his hands raised in the conclusion but I think that it will be through conclusion. If that’s true then he can score ~60 points in a win, and also at $9.1k that isn’t likely to win anyone a championship. I will be complete fading Perez this week and hoping he doesn’t get the finish and he is my official evaporate of the week.
